 emoticon

I see there's been a huge fuss on Facebook with a South African group of racists having had their 'group; removed. They're obviously a bunch of fundamentalists who whine about the political situation here and they've been saying some nasty things that will get them into trouble with the constitutional 'police.' I wouldn't be surprised if they don't get into trouble for 'hate' speech.

They're our version of the KKK. Idiots.

I don't get why it is that people who're supposed to live according to 'love thy neighbor' hate their neighbors so much! Very odd.

It's strange. I went to several different churches while growing up and never heard them say to hate anyone or treat them badly because of skin color, preferences, etc., so I used to think that those who did teach hate were misusing the religion. Then when I actually read the Bible and saw all that was in it, I realized these groups only cherry pick the parts of the Bible that promote the ideas they already hold, while the nicer groups are only doing the same thing.

There is plenty of good and bad in the Bible to justify anyone's sense of morals, if they're able to ignore or twist the parts that don't agree with them.

I think the reason I always ended up in churches that agreed with my sense of morality is because I always went with friends or family that shared my views, so of course they attended those churches that agreed with them. If they taught any of the stuff I would consider unethical, I just didn't happen to attend on the day(s) when they taught it.

It was the justification for Apartheid, God said that Ham's descendants were to be servants and that was it. And there is a whole new fundamentalist kind of racism growing here now. I actually wish the government would give them a piece of land and send them to live there, and then refuse to allow them to have any servants. Imagine these people having to do all the dirty work for themselves.

Spirituality unites, religion divides.

I actually feel more spiritual now than I did when I was a believer.

Not quite sure what that means.

Respect for others, Golden Rule sort of stuff?

Which part? The first half or the 2nd?

That actually has more to do with current circumstances that are unrelated to belief or lack thereof, but the point is that I have these deeper feelings as an unbeliever than I did as a believer.

So many things have been lining up for me for a while now that I "feel" like fate is playing a role, although I'm not convinced logically that this is the case.

More things have lined up recently, and I'm about to take a little trip that will hopefully help me put even more things in order.

That;s great Lesa, maybe it's just you taking positive action, it actually helps, I got my annus horribilis into perspective when I realised that the reason why everything was failing at the same time is because they were all repaired and replaced at the same time 5 years ago, so in 5 years I can expect the same thing, nothing to do with gods and fate. Now everything's being fixed it's all ok again.

I've always had this bad habit of starting something, then getting discouraged after a few months of it going nowhere and giving up on it before it really had the chance. But not this time. This time it's been more than a year, and I'm just as motivated now as I was in the beginning, if not more so.

There have been circumstances involved that I couldn't forsee, but when those circumstances have been positive, I've been acting upon them. I know what I want now, I have a plan for achieving it (which is flexible, if I find a better way), and I am determined. I'm hoping to make a lot of progress within the next 6 months, but even if it takes me 6 more years, I'm not giving up this time.
