Re: Runboard problems

It would be interesting to know if other people are having the same problem.

If you're not sure, you really should call your ISP to make sure they're aware of the problem, because it sounds to me like that's where the problem is.

Remember I had that problem with this board, when it kept telling me there was a problem and you fixed it? Now it's doing it to Anything Goes. So I have to use Firefox which for some reason keeps crashing.
I dunno, the more they fix bugs on these things, the more bugs they seem to get.

I'm getting so many messages, especially when posting, that the server has interrupted the connection and I must try again later. If I bail out and immediately reconnect, everything's fine.
And my post is usually there.
But it's very irritating!

Is it happening around the time you made your posts, or at all times of the day?

I ask this question of both of you, although the 2 problems seem unrelated and I would guess MO will say all times of the day.

I haven't been running into connection problems, but unless I take a really late lunch, I'm usually at work during the time on Petal's post.

When it happens, it is all the time. Now it's fixed but I'm still having to refresh these pages and photobucket for some strange reason.
It's not a cache problem because I've set it to clear every time I quite the program, either Firefox or Safari.
Very odd. my ISP also say it's not them. It's not a problem anymore, I've gotten used to refreshing each page as I read them, I just find it odd that only those two sites do it, and I have no doubt that there's something in the router that's causing it. So i wouldn't worry too much about it.
I'm able to use Safari again so the problem seems to have been fixed with AG.

As Mo says it happens at any time - but with me, it's only after I post a reply ... some days are worse than others, so it's all a bit weird but I'm learning to live with it!

It says 'an internal server error occurred; please try again later' but after refreshing the page the post is there anyway. I'm not sure whether it's a runboard problem, a Safari/Apple problem, or a service provider problem - but it's irritating and it shouldn't be happening.

Re: Runboard problems

I've always thought "internal server" errors always had to do with the website being accessed (Runboard, in your case, Petal), although I could be wrong.

In MO's case, it definitely sounds like an ISP problem, despite their claim to the contrary. I once had a problem trying to access a website that had moved to a new server with a new IP. While other ISPs were sending people to the new IP where they were able to access the website, AOL's servers still had the old IP in their logs and it prevented all of their users from accessing the website. I was on Netscape at the time, which is a child company of AOL and uses AOL's servers. I asked two other Netscape/AOL users, who verified that they couldn't reach the site either, but I was able to access the site through a different ISP, as well as through a proxy site, and was able to identify the cause of the problem. But when I spoke with AOL, they vehemently denied there was a problem on their end, so of course they didn't fix it, and nobody could access that website until AOL's logs were updated through a regularly scheduled process. The details of this are pretty technical, but the point is they denied the problem was on their end, when I knew full well that it was.

Running both of your IPs just now, it looks like MO's ISP may be the parent company of Petal's ISP. For this and other reasons, I question whether an internal server error necessarily applies to Runboard, or if it's ISP-related. I do know that I haven't run into any of MO's problems at all, nor have I run into any internal server errors here recently, which adds to my suspicion of it being ISP-related.

Re: Runboard problems

We;re both with MWeb which is owned by Telkom who own everything to do with telephony in SA. Even though we have another telephone company, Neotel, they are merely another name for another company in bed with Telkom who own all the cables that everybody else uses.
SA has a very strange economy. If you start a company and it gets big enough to be a threat to the big boys (who are all in bed with each other and the government), you get bought out. If you won't go to bed with them, they put you out of business.
It's very sad but true. The government has always had a finger in every pie in this country. A true monopolistic economy.
Telkom is huge. Mweb say that I should speak to the site owners. They haven't had complaints from other users and Telkom of course denies that anything that ever goes wrong with the web is their problem. It's ok, I'll live with it. I actually think the problem was caused by one of our power failures that messed up something in my router because the problem started when I switched on after a long outage. Unfortunately there's not much I can do about the power supply company, which is also owned by the government, being inefficient and not telling us when they're going to turn off the electricity.
