How do you make a smooth tiled image?
I have this graphic...
I want to make it into a background image that tiles smoothly and is mostly black for a skin design I have in mind but I forgot what Skokey told me to do in order for this to work... help please...

Hi Rick,
Ooo - that might be a tough one because there's so much contrast from one side and the other and top and bottom. I'll give it a try though. Hang on.

Hi Skokey,
If you need to chop it up or get rid of some of it that is okay, I just need the tiled image to give the feel of a smoky or foggy background... I tried some things and I remembered something about matching edges but I couldn't figure it out on my own.

I incorporated yours into another one that was a bit boring on the left hand side but it was already a seamless tile. This was an easy fix.

It just occured to me that you might like to know the background context so you are not just working on the tile without knowing what is planned...
The skin is called "Mystery" and one of the images I will be using looks like this:
That image is part of a navigation sidebar background and I am attempting to match both it and the boards background in a way that looks complimentary.

Will there be borders around the side bar? Otherwise, you wont be able to match a rectangular solid black to the background

Do you want a more fluffy edge around the mystery man?
