Aren't the dam beavers entitled to dam legal representation? The Spring Pond Beavers are financially destitute and are unable to pay for said dam representation -- so the State will have to provide them with a dam lawyer.

-- but if you are going to arrest them (they obviously did not pay any dam attention to your dam letter - being unable to read English) -- be sure you read them their dam Miranda rights first.

"Maudit Christ a Tabernacle!" I got that one from my cousins. We tried to teach them some of ours, like Son of a !@#$ but it comes out of their Frenchy mouths as Sunny Beach.

Finland had blashemy law until... about twenty years ago, I think. It was changed to "violating religious peace".
I'm not sure if anyone has ever been accused of that as laws on vandalism or agitation against ethnic/religious group cover all the same things.
There were some famous blashemy cases, like awarded author Hannu Salama some fifty years ago and provocative act called "God's theater" in 80's.

You know how when someone makes a religious/non-religious comment in a public forum (facebook) and everything starts to go to Hell? Look where this one went.

Hellen wrote: "I have no problem with Jesus, in fact if he's ever in town I have three nails so I can put him up for the night ;-)"

It made me chuckle pretty hard though.

Hi, Kaunisto. According to this blog post, it sounds like insulting a religious group, whether intentionally or not, carries a stiffer penalty than hiring a 17-year-old prostitute, and the same penalty as intentionally distributing child porn.

"Section 8 - Ethnic agitation (578/1995)
A person who spreads statements or other information among the public where a certain race, a national, ethnic or religious group or a comparable group is threatened, defamed or insulted shall be sentenced for ethnic agitation to a fine or to imprisonment for at most two years."

Does this mean someone could be thrown in jail for two years for saying, "I don't know if a historical Jesus existed or not, but if he did, he certainly wasn't a god or half-god"?

Skokey, I've seen some pretty blasphemous pictures on FB that have made me chuckle, and almost clicked on the 'like' button. emoticon

Quite a blog you found. While it has lots of undeniable facts, I think it's still very biased. (And I'm pretty extremist about freedom of speech - though also firm believer in our legal/political system.)

There are lots of laws everywhere that could technically be interpreted to absurd extremes.
I can't think of a thing to say/publish about Jesus that would cause even a fine. But that's bit like slandering white people; if it was minority religion/race authorities might be more strict.

In general I think to end up in jail you'd need to systematically publish material promoting violence and discrimination on ethnic group with clearly untrue claims.

That sounds fair enough. emoticon I guess if someone is taken to court for claiming a particular god doesn't exist, the onus would be on the plaintiff to prove that it does, because that's the only way to prove that the negative is untrue. emoticon
