I have a non Runboard question

This question is about ProBoards. I noticed that my header is clickable back to my Photobucket. I want to make it clickable to http://bsusassunroom.runboard.com/

How do I do that?

Here is what is in the html header:

<h1 align="center"><a href="http://smg.beta.photobucket.com/user/PurpleSusa/media/Sunroom/BobSiggy.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v53/PurpleSusa/Sunroom/BobSiggy.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo BobSiggy.jpg"/></a></h1>

Is it the first link in that header that I need to change? Does Photobucket do their link like that for advertising?

OK, now I have another question about this board. I see that you have removed the link that says to 'Subscribe to topic' at the top of the page. I know I can check mark the box in my reply to do that, but I have found that check marking the box only subscribes for about one reply so I always do the check mark but also subscribe at the top of the page. Do you suppose that was ever fixed?

Re: I have a non Runboard question

Short answer:
1) Yes.
2) Yes.

Long answer: This isn't specific to proboards. It works the same way on any web page, whether it's a message board, blog, static web page, or even Facebook. Now, here's the breakdown of that code.

<h1> is a level-1 heading tag.

align="center" centers the heading, but this should really be done with CSS instead.

<a> is the tag you use for clickable links.

href is where you want that link to take people when they click on it.

target specifies where this link should open. Without it, the link will open in the same tab.

_blank makes the target a new tab or window.

<img> is to embed an image.

src is the source, or address, of that image.

border="0" - An image used as a link will have a border around it by default. If you already have img{border:0;} in your CSS, this is unnecessary.

alt is the text people will see if/when the image is unavailable. This includes blind people who can't see images at all, in which case their aural screen reader will read whatever is defined for this attribute.

</a> specifies that this is where the link ends.

</h1> specifies that this is where the heading ends.

I removed other links, but that one is still there.

I didn't realize that, so I'll check the box now and see if I can reproduce this.

Another note about your banner code. You can put that in as a background instead of using an <img> tag, like I did here at Illusia.

Could I put the header and footer in the CSS like I have it here at Runboard? Is it done the same at every message board?

Thank you for dissecting that code for me. I need to memorize that.

---------------

I still do not see 'Subscribe to thread' so I logged in on Firefox rather than Chrome and it is there in Firefox. Neither 'Subscribe to thread' nor 'Bookmark Illusia' is there in Chrome.

---------------

I had the issue with not being able to stay subscribed to threads several years ago and learned that if I subscribed both ways then I stayed subscribed. Nanny recently asked me why she can't stay subscribed to a thread when she always checks the box when she makes a post and I told her about clicking at the top, too, and her problem went away.

Oh, wow. It's really messed up in Chrome. Thanks for the heads up. emoticon I didn't think to check in there, because it should have worked the same in every browser. emoticon

...she always checks the box when she makes a post...

I received the first notification, and am checking the box again.

Well this is just my theory, but it seems that if you check the box in the reply box it is for one post only, but if you subscribe at the top it is for forever. It is for forever in the Quick Reply.

If you read in the reply box it says 'Get notifications when someone replies?' and I am wondering if that means for one reply and then when you go and read it is not for more replies after that unless you check the box again.

I wonder if that's what Thor intended, or if it's a bug.

I did get a notification for that, but am leaving it un-checked this time to see what happens.

Thanks, Susa. emoticon

Edit for typo. emoticon

I am not sure it is still happening because once I got it sorted out I quit experimenting and that was a long time ago. Runboard Support was talking about problems with subscribing when I got it sorted for myself. It would be interesting to know how long ago that was.
