I believe it is good to talk about goodness in this world, we need that kind of talk more than the war mongering and hatred filled chatter that goes on.

Mo, you and your husband are lovely people. emoticon

Thanks guys but he's the really good person. I'm not half as kind as he is. I try not to hurt people, and to be helpful whenever I can, but he takes it further. He goes out of his way to do nice things for other people, and he holds me back when sometimes, quite justifiably, I want to make a fuss. Like yesterday when a neighbour let her dog run out onto the common area and didn't go to clean up the mess he made. I wanted to pick it up at drop it at her door. He told me not to do that, it wasn't a nice thing to do. I still think she deserves to be told off for being irresponsible, but I backed off because he said it wasn't kind.

emoticon Mo...you may be surprised to learn that I have done exactly that, to make a point. Of course the dog chose MY yard to do his business in, and the first time I ran over it with my lawn mower tire...making a huge mess. So after that...I checked the yard before mowing, and ALL of them went over the roses and into the neighbors driveway...they had to drive over them, or step in them. But it was their dog, they let him out every night when they got home from work.
Now....he can only go out in the back, unless they are walking him on a leash, then they clean up if he happens to go doo doo in my yard. emoticon

I'm going to keep my eye on her. If she does it again I will complain.

I might complain but I don't think I would toss it back in their yard or driveway. Knowing me I'd just pick it up and get on with life. I have a quick temper and can hold a grudge when someone lies to me or breaks a trust but other than that I am pretty easy going. Can't be bothered being petty.

It would be a bit difficult to pick it up if the mower ran over it, but throwing it in their driveway each time after that would send a clear message to stop leaving their dog's poo in my yard. If they don't have the decency to clean their dog's mess out of my yard the first time, I doubt complaining to them would have any effect. I can be easy-going, too, but nobody should have to check their yard for dog poop every time they mow. It's bad enough having to go around picking up sticks, where anything big enough to harm the mower is easily visible. Poop isn't always so visible, and can create a nasty mess.

The end result was a lesson well taught. We are now good friends with them, exchanging goodie platters for Xmas and keeping an eye on each others places when one leaves on vacation...

I still have to do "poop patrol" before mowing as we live on an open corner lot and our yard has the sidewalk. So A LOT of people walk their dogs, some pick it up, some do not. But I have not seen those dogs or their owners...so just have to clean up and toss in the garbage.
The worse time is in the fall when the leaves start to cover the ground and we still have to keep cutting the grass...no way to see the stuff then!
To me that is irresponsible pet owners...and Payette actually has a "Responsible Pet owner law" that says they must have a dog license, can not bark incessantly, they must be on a lease when walking and you must clean up after your animal. emoticon

I don't understand why Americans don't put fences around their houses, and then their dogs can go outside when they're not there. rather than sitting in the house all day, pooping everywhere and tearing the place apart. Surely a fence that allows them out, with a doggie door into the house for when it's cold, is better than locking them up all day. It also removes the poop problem for the neighbours. I find it odd that people don't have fences.

For us to put up a fence here, that looks halfway decent with the house and not take away from the curb appeal and thus the resale value, it would be between $3,000 and $4,000...that is why.
I mean we could stick up some chicken wire or chained link fencing if we wanted our houses curb appeal to look like crap, but we don't. Still...that would be around $1,200...
