Re: Covid-19

I'm noticing deaths in countries that haven't reported any for months, like Estonia and Luxembourg. And some of countries that have had least deaths previously seem to have been hit along last weeks.
Much of Europe is having a second wave, but I think there's a phenom of covid spreading to places that had so far avoided it.

Argentina reported yesterday 3000+ additional deaths, messing with statistics so much that it appear like worst day yet globally.

Finland is reaching in new cases amounts that were only seen for worst month around april. However casualties are remaining minimal.

Re: Covid-19

Looking how Argentina's daily deaths appeared to keep going every day before that spike, I wonder if a lot of the deaths that were reported so far this month actually happened over the last few weeks and just hadn't been reported yet.

Argentina Daily Deaths

I'm sure you're aware that Donald and Melania Trump tested positive on October 1, and he went into the hospital with shortness of breath and other symptoms the next day. Now, at least 35 people who either had direct contact with him recently, or recent contact with the people around him who became infected, have now tested positive. Since it can take 2-10 days after exposure to experience symptoms (plus he could have had symptoms a few days before he admitted it), and based on the timeline of when everyone else got it, I have no doubt that Trump himself infected a lot of people at various events on the 26th, 27th, 29th, 30th, and 31st.

Wikipedia has a good chart of infections and notable exposures and timeline of events surrounding that. Rudy Giuliani isn't listed as having a positive result yet, but it sounds like he has symptoms, and we know he was at the Rose Garden on September 26, where there were about 180 people attending that ceremony for Trump's SCOTUS pick. As soon as Trump was released from the hospital and entered the White House, he took his mask off around other people, when he is most likely still contagious. With a president who won't even protect his own staff (and presumably family) from himself, it's no wonder we have so many deaths from this thing. emoticon

Today Finland had record number of new cases and before that day before yesterday was third only behind worst spikes in april. Official number of active cases has been this high only for worst week in april.
However there's only been 10 deaths during last month - mild increase from total of 8 during two months before that, but still minimal compared to 300+ of the march-may first wave.

(is it just my browser acting up or are all graphics missing from this board?)

Europe is getting hit real bad, new cases have doubled within a month and so did month before.
Many countries like Slovakia that did really well in spring are now having it much worse.
While much of world is getting worse - yesterday global new cases reached 400 000 first time - Balkans and Middle East seem to be taking particularly lots of casualties.

While most of Europe is doing very bad just now, Nordics are still OK, this time Sweden included.
We are having second wave, after the couple really good months on summer, but clearly looking better than much of the world.

Horrible numbers around Europe, but Finland is doing fine.

South America is having a less disastrous phase in general.

Balkan and Caucasus are among the worst areas.

Belgium is doing absolutely terrible, arguably worst in the world. I wonder why exactly?

Other worst of Europe are Czechia, Slovenia and several other ex-Yugoslavian states and, if you count it to Europe, Armenia (who also have other worries right now...)

Sweden bans serving alcohol after 10pm till end of february.

Finland's great at social distancing, and it shows

Bit optimistic, but yeah, we're doing relatively well.

East and Central Europe are hit hard and it seems that all who did well at spring are having disaster with this second wave.
Although West Europe isn't doing any better...

Baltics that for long were better than Finland are now worse.

Finland is getting slightly worse, especially capital area starts to look dangerous again. They might even have to isolate it from rest of country again.

Official world numbers have reached not only 1,5 million deaths but the point that 0,02% or 1/5000 of world population has died (not considering deaths/births during the time).

Finland is doing slightly worse day by day, but far from awful. We're still among best countries in Europe - which in general is indeed doing awful.
9 out of 10 countries in world with most casualties per capita are European (if you include Andorra and San Marino, but it may soon be true even if not) and soon 4 of the 10 worst are likely countries of former Yugoslavia.
