If not, you'll need one that does. As for setting it up, I just fumbled my way through the network connection wizard and can't recall off the top of my head how to do it. Make sure you use a secured connection, otherwise others can get into your home network.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Lesigner Girl)Fri, 13 Mar 2009 22:59:58 +0000 Re: new laptop and possible connectivityhttps://billusia.runboard.com/p230854,from=rss#post230854https://billusia.runboard.com/p230854,from=rss#post230854ok i have been asking other folks and i was told i may be able to connect to the net remotely if i use a router to access my desktops connection? can anyone tell me how this works? and what exactly i need?nondisclosed_email@example.com (toxiczen)Fri, 13 Mar 2009 14:54:13 +0000 Re: new laptop and possible connectivityhttps://billusia.runboard.com/p230848,from=rss#post230848https://billusia.runboard.com/p230848,from=rss#post230848You can find some pretty good deals at TigerDirect.com. I bought a laptop through them recently for about $500 and am pretty happy with it, but unfortunately I don't see it on their site anymore.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Lesigner Girl)Thu, 12 Mar 2009 03:47:45 +0000 Re: new laptop and possible connectivityhttps://billusia.runboard.com/p230846,from=rss#post230846https://billusia.runboard.com/p230846,from=rss#post230846I have no idea, can you not dial into it?nondisclosed_email@example.com (Morwen Oronor)Wed, 11 Mar 2009 20:04:57 +0000 Re: new laptop and possible connectivityhttps://billusia.runboard.com/p230845,from=rss#post230845https://billusia.runboard.com/p230845,from=rss#post230845its is a FIOS connection through the router provided by verizon. but how would i access that with my laptop from across town?nondisclosed_email@example.com (toxiczen)Wed, 11 Mar 2009 17:40:07 +0000 Re: new laptop and possible connectivityhttps://billusia.runboard.com/p230844,from=rss#post230844https://billusia.runboard.com/p230844,from=rss#post230844How does your other home computer work, if that's on ADSL, then surely you can use a LAN, or airport connection. I'm guessing here. I have an ADSL router with 4 LAN connections and airport so I can in theory connect any number of wireless computers and 4 LAN ones. Of course this does slow the connection down if there are more than 3 using the same connection.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Morwen Oronor)Wed, 11 Mar 2009 16:43:15 +0000 new laptop and possible connectivityhttps://billusia.runboard.com/p230843,from=rss#post230843https://billusia.runboard.com/p230843,from=rss#post2308432 questions 1) I'm going to purchase a laptop soon mainly for school use, i don't want to spend more than $700.00 does any one have any suggestions of what to look at? i was told a "Lenovo IdeaPad Y530" is worth getting, but I'm curious to know what others think as well... 2) I'm now working as a group home manager, and i spend 7 days a week in said home, if i am unable to find a signal with my laptop, will i be able to get online with a phone jack connected to my laptop? i have heard of folks doing this before... thanks for any input!nondisclosed_email@example.com (toxiczen)Wed, 11 Mar 2009 16:30:28 +0000
