Installation gets hung up

Oh, dear. I have another issue. emoticon

I am trying to install Family Tree Maker 2012 from a CD and this is what I get whenever the installation gets to 56%. I am on Windows 7.

I probably should also tell you that at one point in time I had a different version of Family Tree Maker on this computer and I didn't like it and I uninstalled it about a year ago. When I do a search for Family Tree Maker files I don't find anything. Someone talked me into getting the 2012 version and I bought it last January and I am finally installing it. I don't know if any of that matters except that it might not like that I uninstalled it before.

I've never used that program, and have no idea why their installation data isn't extracting, but maybe this link can help. If it doesn't, you might have better luck asking in their forums. I didn't find anything when I searched for the exact error message.

I think I have read about everything in the Google search. I thought maybe it had to do with my computer and the fact that I had deleted the program before.

You might need to ask them in their forums, then. I'm sure someone else there must have had the same problem with the software, so they might have a solution.

I hope so. I know you take a great interest in tracing your geneology. emoticon

Re:

I am just starting on genealogy tonight! I am having a lot of fun with it.

I have found a few famous people from long ago in my tree and I bought books about the people. Such fun! I love reading their history as though they are alive today.

Now I know that if these people are far enough back in history we are probably all related to them but I am finding it so much fun to trace back and find a person and then make that part of history come alive.

I haven't tried again with Family Tree Maker. I think it is related to an issue I had when I first got my computer. I had lost everything in my old computer, except it was backed up at Carbonite.com and to an external hard drive, too.

Well I decided that since I had paid for Carbonite that I would use it for my back up and I went there to download my files. They said that my user name had to be passworded and I hadn't passworded it since I am the only user. Carbonite asked me to choose a password and so I did and they downloaded my files. When I looked at my computer they weren't there and then I found out that they had created a new user name with the password and so I had two accounts.

I had only had the computer 2 days so I just switched over to the user where my files were. From then on I had trouble with downloading. When you went to Australia I downloaded Qlock for on my desktop so I knew what time it was there. Qlock was on my desktop and then when I would shut the computer down and turn it back on Qlock was gone. Eventually, I figured out that what I download would go over to the original account and after many months it struck me that I was not an administrator with the second account. I made myself an administrator on the second account and a user on the first account. Still once in awhile strange things happen with downloads.

Today I deleted the first account. I have no clue what will happen to me tomorrow. LOL I suppose there will be repercussions.

I would love to rename my remaining account to what I want but I suppose Carbonite would not be happy and so I am leaving that.
