Re: Why we are becoming an idiocracy A lot of people are bigoted because of their own ignorance, so I figure I can try to teach them something, but if that fails, at least they've been chastised for their bigotry.
If the person who asks that question seems to think it's cool to live in a different country for a while, I might try to make it sound like I thought they mis-heard me. Maybe something like, "No, no, New Mexico, the state, not Mexico the country."
I would love to hear your dad respond to a bigot who asks that question.
Re: Why we are becoming an idiocracy On the one hand, I feel sorry for those people. On the other, I get aggravated by the way they hinder progress and even take us backward because of their ignorance.
Re: Why we are becoming an idiocracy I feel sorry for them to the extent that if I think I can help, I will. But there are just those you KNOW will never even open their eyes, let alone their minds to anything you have to say.
So, I save my energy for those who at least are willing to try.

Re: Why we are becoming an idiocracy I'm like that, too. I'm probably more outspoken online, where people can choose to not read anything I say and lurkers might learn something, but in person, it depends more on the person I'm speaking to. Either way, I try to be nice until it's time to not be nice.
