Vaccines: This information can save your child's life

Here is an excellent article, summarizing the false claims that are made about vaccines, and it contains so many links to more in-depth information that can keep you busy for weeks, if you read it all.

The following video concentrates on the issue of autism, and talks about the countless studies that have been conducted in the search for the cause or causes. In 2012 alone, around 14,700,000 children were studied, and you can hear the results of those studies about 4:25 in to the video.

So, what got the whole MMR/autism hype started? The parents of 8 children, who started watching their children closer than normal right after their vaccinations, noticed something they hadn't noticed before, assumed their children's "symptoms" were signs of autism, and believed there was a link because they happened to notice these "symptoms" around the same time they started looking for signs of side effects.

There was never a study that indicated a connection between MMR and autism. It was a paper that was based on the beliefs of those parents. Further, the author of that paper changed a lot of the details before submitting it for publication (he lied), and it somehow slipped through the review process to get published.

I repeat: No studies have ever indicated a connection between MMR and autism, but countless studies have show that there is no connection.

Don't let your children die from something that is easily preventable. Unless they have an autoimmunity disease or are known to be allergic to one or more ingredients of a vaccine, there is no excuse for skipping their immunizations.

Man, that video and article needs to circulate a LOT!
I made sure Chris was vaccinated, right on schedule. The science then told me they were safer than NOT vaccinating.

I don't understand how so many people can still believe there's a connection between the MMR vaccine and autism.

These anti-vaxxers like to claim that the medical community denies any side effects from the MMR vaccine, but it's spelled out right here on the U.S. National Library of Medicine website!

RISKS AND SIDE EFFECTS

Most persons who get MMR have no problems from it. Others may have mild problems such as soreness and redness where the shot was given or a low fever. More severe problems from MMR are rare.

If a rash or swelling of the cheek or neck glands develops without other symptoms, no treatment is needed. The symptoms should go away within several days.

Severe side effects may include:

• Allergic reaction (rare)
• Long-term seizure, brain damage, or deafness (so rare that it is unlikely the vaccine is the cause)

There is no proof that the MMR vaccine is linked to the development of autism.

No vaccine works all of the time. It is still possible, though unlikely, to get measles, mumps, or rubella even after receiving all doses (shots) of MMR.

Since that claim (that the medical community claims there are no side effects) is so easily debunked, it's obvious that anti-vaxxers should not be considered a credible source of information.

In addition, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (another .gov website) says exactly who should not be vaccinated. If they go so far as to say who should not be vaccinated, then where are these anti-vaxxers getting the screwed up notion that the whole medical community is claiming there are no possible side effects?

Seriously, people. Stop listening to the uninformed paranoia, and start doing what's right for your kids! Read up on the history of these deadly diseases that the vaccines are created to prevent. The reason you don't see them as much today as people did back then is because most kids these days are vaccinated, but severe outbreaks have occurred since then in areas where vaccinations aren't quite so routine.

But they can't STOP listening....because they believe....and if they can not place the blame on that...then where would the "BLAME" lie? Possibly them? Because in their eyes, it had to be caused by something....not a natural occurrence. If that were the case, Autism came from the parents.............or God.
Most people will NOT go there....

I guess it's how some people prefer to believe that bad things happen because it's part of some grandiose plan for the greater good of the universe, or something like that.

My response to that? !@#$ happens, and it's up to each one of us to decide whether to let setbacks defeat us, or to make the most of what we have.

I'm sure most of us have heard the "Serenity Prayer". Instead of saying it to some unknown power that probably doesn't exist, let's all direct that prayer to ourselves.

I will try to have the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The courage to change the things I can,
And the wisdom to know the difference.

You have a kid with autism? !@#$ happens. I have a nephew with autism, through no fault of his parents. Instead of trying to place the blame on medicine or some deity that probably doesn't exist, just accept their situation, and give them what they need.

What they don't need is to be treated like idiots who can't think for themselves. People with autism are often much more logical than their parents, but simply interact with society differently than most people do. Learn how to connect with them. Listen to them, and let them teach you. Don't spend all your time ignoring what they're trying to tell you, while you're off in your own little world, trying to stick the blame on anything you can, while putting other children's lives at risk by telling parents that a life-saving medicine will hurt their children.

Autism can be a big hurdle, yes, but it isn't the end of the world, and there is no known way to prevent it. If it happens, deal with it, and if there is a way to prevent it, the experts will be able to discover that prevention much more quickly if you just stay out of their way and let them do their jobs.

Edit: The "you" in this post isn't directed at you, Queeny. I know you know better than that. emoticon

I didn't think it was... emoticon

I have a nephew with a myriad of health issues...His name is Austin and he's adorable..

Image

But his Mother was a young, fun loving, pregnant way to early young lady. And her parents blamed ALL his problems on her. Some may have been.......but I think like you, "!@#$ happens".
The deed is done. Keep the family unit together, that child is going to need you all. emoticon

Oh and your new Serenity prayer.....is about how I say it! I have to change, before anything else can. ♥

He looks adorable and happy, and they need to STFU. Unpreventable !@#$ does happen, and even if she did do something that contributed to his problems, I'm sure she's much more mature by now. Blaming her isn't going to do anyone any good, and can only do him harm, since I'm sure he can feel that tension whenever his mom and grandparents are in the same room with him.

My version of the serenity prayer works well for me. I don't actually chant it or anything, but I do try to keep it in mind whenever things don't go quite the way I want them to.

She is much more mature now....even married a very nice man. We met him when her Dad, (my husbands oldest brother, Jacques) passed away. But by then....Grandma and Grandpa had taken custody of Austin....Grandma (Lina) still has him. But at least Joy (his mom) can come and see him....I think it took losing Jacques, to realize that family squabbles don't mean jack !@#$. emoticon

I hope Austin is in a happy, loving environment, his mom gets to see him often, and they get along well when they're all together. It's a shame his mom doesn't have custody, but it could be hard for him if he had to leave the home he has known all his life. He does look happy in that picture. emoticon
